Lake Louise Inn serves up yet another amenity to spoil its guests. Taking the lead from the current trend to turn the cell phone off and savour the senses and the great outdoors, Lake Louise Inn at Lake Louise, Alberta re-invents the time-honoured tradition of English Tea - and brings taste back to the forefront in a heritage cabin!

Not your run-of-the-mill pinkie-finger raised proper kind of tea, but a modern day take in an 84 year old historic log cabin. The unique cabin, formerly the Banff Information Bureau, was moved to Lake Louise to form part of a warden compound in the 1950's and 1960's. Believed to be designed by National Parks architect W.D. Cromarty in 1924, the eyebrow eave is a hallmark of his cottage designs. French windows replace the former public entrance and a bell cast roof and exposed rafters further exemplify the carefully crafted rustic style ideal for tea time in Banff National Park. The location of the Tea Cottage at Lake Louise Inn offers visitors the glory of a mountain setting with the convenience of drive-in access.

Helping you and your family to slow down, the traditional afternoon tea consists of tea, those lovely little finger sandwiches you wish you had time to make but never do, bakery fresh scones, delicate pastries, delightful strawberry jam and the thickest clotted cream. While these items are a nice nod to tradition, the varietals of tea are most decidedly modern. Options include a Caramel Apple Rooibos Tea from the Cederberg region of South Africa, to a spectacular Longing Heart Blossom Tea from the Anhui Province of China, which literally blossoms before you, to more traditional varietals. Tea leaves are imported world wide by The Banff Tea Co. and tea at this log cabin has all the makings of an exceptional afternoon. Not to be left out, youngsters under ten years of age enjoy plenty of treats with just a splash of classic breakfast tea in a cup of milk.

Throughout the year, the Tea Cottage will open for groups of six or more by special arrangement. This intimate cottage seats only 12 guests so, as with most of the special places, reservations are a must. After a day in the mountains, a revitalizing cup of tea complemented by a historic setting hits just the right mark to evoke a feeling of days gone by. And if you're lucky, a tea reading of your cup might just spell good luck.
