With over 150 kilometres of trails easily accessible from Lake Louise Inn, there is always more to see and do! Begin with a trail map, check the conditions and set a personal challenge. Go at your own pace and discover the historical buildings in the area. For guided hikes, try Great Divide Nature Interpretation.

For a scenic drive, consider the Icefields Parkway, the Bow Valley Parkway or a drive through Yoho National Park. Takakkaw Falls, one of Canada’s highest waterfalls, Spiral Tunnels, an amazing engineering feat, and Johnston Canyon are just a few of the dramatic views and points of interests.

Italian for “iron road”, Via Ferrata is a protected climbing route with a steel cable running along the route that is fixed to the rock. Using a Via Ferrata Harness, climbers can secure themselves to the cable, creating a completely safe climbing environment. Step out of your comfort zone and experience first-hand exposure in a safe environment, while soaking in the majestic views of the Rockies. Experienced and friendly guides will assist you on the route, catering to your level of experience whether you are a lead climber or a never-ever in search of an adrenaline fix.

Lake Louise is the perfect location to explore the breathtaking scenery of the Canadian Rocky Mountains. With over a thousand kilometres of trails to explore in Banff National Park, there’s plenty to see and do for our guests of all ages and hiking levels. Some of the most popular hikes in Lake Louise include Lake Agnes, Plain of Six Glaciers, Fairview Mountain and the Big Beehive.
In the Fall, hike amongst turning larch trees and enjoy the natural beauty of the Lake Louise area.

Climbing Climbing
Push to the limit by climbing in the Rockies! Mountains near Lake Louise offer the opportunity to scramble to the peak (an easy climb using just hands and feet) or get out the gear to try the more serious alpine faces. Try the challenge at Mount Fairview or Mount Temple for spectacular views or visit the Lake Louise Visitor Centre in the Village for more ideas.

Take in the beautiful mountain scenery while canoeing or kayaking in sparkling blue waters. This activity is perfect for families! Lake Louise, Moraine Lake and Emerald Lake offer boat rentals, while non-motorized boats can be used in many other lakes in Banff National Park, including Johnson Lake, Vermillion Lakes and Bow Lake.

gondola Sightseeing Gondola
The Lake Louise Sightseeing gondola is one of the best places to see wildlife in their natural environment. The open chair or fully enclosed gondola take you up to 2,088m (6,850ft) to take in the spectacular scenery of Lake Louise. Learn about the wild animals you can find in the Canadian Rockies in the Nature Interpretation Centre or take on a more strenuous hike to the summit of Mt. Whitehorn.  Sightseeing Gondola tickets are available at the front desk.

Take a short trip from Lake Louise Inn to find world-famous fly-fishing and lake fishing. Permits are required and available for one day or one year. Fishing tours and guides will help find your perfect spot. Banff Fishing Unlimited offers guiding in the lakes and rivers of Lake Louise. Alpine Anglers specializes in fly-fishing in the Upper Bow Valley.
